Former World No. 4 Holger Rune is now confirmed for this year’s Bybit Stockholm Open. The Dane won the tournament in 2022 and will return to Kungl. Tennishallen in November, one year after tearing his Achilles tendon in the semi-finals and undergoing surgery followed by a lengthy rehabilitation.

When Holger Rune faced Ugo Humbert in the semi-finals in Stockholm last year, the Dane was leading when he injured his left Achilles tendon, forcing him to retire from the match and undergo surgery. Now, the 23-year-old is confirmed for the Bybit Stockholm Open, a tournament where he has previously enjoyed success. In 2022, he won the title after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.

"I’m extremely excited to come back and do what I love most, which is playing tennis. Stockholm Open is a tournament where I’ve done well in the past, and it’s always an incredible place to play," says Holger Rune.

Rune has reached a career-high ranking of World No. 4 and has won five ATP titles. His biggest title came at the Paris Masters in 2022, where he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final.

"A top-form Holger Rune is one of the very best players in the world, and we are delighted that he has once again chosen to play the Stockholm Open. He has a special history here, following his title in 2022 and what happened last year, so it will be very exciting to welcome him back to Stockholm," says Thomas Enqvist, Tournament Director of the Bybit Stockholm Open.

Former Stockholm Open champion Casper Ruud has also already been confirmed for the tournament. More players will be announced in the lead-up to the Bybit Stockholm Open, which will be held from November 7–14 at Kungl. Tennishallen.
